Orderly books, 1776-1777.

Orderly books, three relating to Captain Barnardus Swartwout's company, dated August 15, 1776 - February 27, 1777, one relating to Captain Cornelius Van Wyck's company, dated August 6, 1776 - September 30th, 1776. The three volumes for Swartwout's company include general, division, brigade and regimental orders, as well as a roll of the men in the company, a diary describing the company's march from Poughkeepsie to Kingsbridge in August 1776, and miscellaneous memos by Swartwout. A return of Captain Abraham Schanck's company, dated January 17, 1777, is laid in. The volume for Van Wyck's company includes general, brigade, and regimental orders, provision returns, and morning reports; orders are dated from Kingsbridge. Material on courts-martial included.
